WALKING WITH GOD
6/27/20255 min read

It’s been nearly 2 months since I last wrote in Hyde Park when the Red Arrows flew by. What have I been doing, honestly? I was supposed to write once a week, going through Ruth’s Book Gracelaced, as I ponder my walk with Yahweh and the journey through this life.
I am back, and I will challenge myself afresh with God’s help so that I can complete this challenge, but the objective and most importantly, is to grow more in the knowledge of God and glorify His Name as I ponder the things of God and hold on to Him for dear Life.
My Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit have been teaching me a lot about dwelling in Him and abiding in Him because that is what life is all about. Without God, we have nothing, as Solomon in Ecclesiastes tells us all is vanity, life is but a vapour, and it’s all meaningless without knowing God Almighty and having life in Him.
I guess, as Ruth says in her book Gracelaced, we all have false shelters which can become idols without even realising that they are. I thank God for revealing those false shelters, convicting me and helping me to repent of these. Amongst many other things was and is my struggle, to have a perfect, tidy and clean home and nothing broken, quiet time alone, doing good works, spending money, and indulging in food and other addictions as the Lord is delivering me. Hallelujah!!!!
The Lord is sanctifying me, and my struggle with these is real and painful, far from reaching perfection, but God is merciful, patient, good and faithful, and He will complete what He started in me, as He tells me so in His Word.
As Ruth Chou Simons says, “God steps in to carry our burdens and He reminds us that True Rest comes when we rest in Him.”
To dwell means to live in or stay in a permanent residence, to reside. To dwell in the Lord is to find rest and shelter, and live in Him, as God tells us in Psalm 91:1-2.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:1-2
My true home is God, and in Him, that is where I belong and one day I will be with Him face to face. While on Earth, the LORD’s Presence is with us, and He comforts us. His Word tells us, and we can hold on to these promises and attributes of God. Even if some promises were more specific to the people at the time, the Israelites, still, God is reminding us of who He is and what He has done in the past and what He is currently doing and what He will do in the Future. He is teaching us through His Word who He is and to know, trust, believe and have confidence in Him, and not in ourselves or anyone or anything else. To dwell in God leads to life and life everlasting, but to dwell in other things apart from God leads to destruction and eternal death ultimately.
And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:14
Psalm 27 is a Psalm of David, and He says, “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His Pavilion; In the Secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.”
Psalm 27:5
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7
You shall hide them in the secret place of Your Presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavillion from the strife of tongues.
Psalm 31:20
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established my steps. Psalm 40:2
You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you shall not be afraid of destruction when it comes. Job 5:21
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Psalm 62:7-8
The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me- A prayer to the God of my life.
Psalm 42:8
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1
Trust in the LORD forever, for in YAH, the LORD is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 26:4
We find strength and rest in God, and when we dwell and abide in God. We live life every day abiding in God. In Practical terms, this means praying, talking to God throughout the day, worshipping Him in hymns and songs, exalting His name, being thankful to Him, reading, studying and meditating on His Word. By no means do I do all these, but I am learning as the Lord is revealing and teaching me what it all means. What a Privilege to be forgiven and know and walk with God Almighty through this life and to have His Word, the Bible, with us, which instructs us in the way of Him!
Jesus tells us about the fact that He is the true vine.
I am the true vine, My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the true vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this, My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:1-8
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
Therefore, we can all be encouraged in Him and look to Him to abide and dwell in Him and with Him; The Lord Jesus saved us from our sins and wretchedness and from His wrath and judgment to come on that Cross. He came to His Creation to dwell in flesh like ours and then gave up His body to be killed and shed His Precious Blood for us, then He rose three days later for all who believe and are covered by His blood. He is our Home and our only Shelter; let’s grow in that every day as we walk with Him while here on earth and one day in eternity with Him - how exciting!!!
