Rest in God's Character
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
WALKING WITH GOD
5/5/20254 min read

I am writing this blog post this morning and will soon need to go and walk the dog in the park. As this blog thing is new to me, I feel a bit foreign about how to approach it. The Lord knows my heart and desire to write about Him to glorify Him and encourage and bless others, while at the same time, God is encouraging me.
Recently I came across Ruth Chou Simons Book Gracelaced which is a visually beautiful tapestry of blessing with all her artistry and God’s Word to reflect and dwell on. The book is separated into the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. These are to delve deeper and reflect with the Lord on the seasons of our heart. I like that idea, and so I will be posting about the journey of these seasons.
Winter represents resting in God’s Character, looking into topics such as dwell, lean, sufficient, present, ask, broken, rest, and good.
Spring is rehearsing the truth- sitting on topics such as new, beloved, delight, freedom, masterpiece, pruning, mine, everything.
Summer is responding in Faith, such as come, above, cast, stand, rejoice, forgive, meek, daily.
Fall is remembering God’s Provisions, looking into topics such as held, intercession, carried, light, peace, led, purpose and assurance.
I think that no matter how long one has walked with the LORD, these themes and truths of the heart - God’s Word to us can never get old or irrelevant because this is the human condition, and these are the words of eternal life. We all have different lives and circumstances, but the human condition, fallen man and his thirst and hunger for God are all the same, and thus I pray that this will reflect that and encourage in the Lord, as I am encouraged in the Lord.
But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. John 6:68
We constantly need to be reminded of God’s goodness, faithfulness and mercy, but also how important it is not to neglect our walk with Him of which I am chief guilty but I know the Lord is doing a good thing that He started in me as His Word says and He will bring it to completion.
I thank God upon every remembrance of you, always in every parayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in the knowledge and all discernment, that you. May approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:3-11
Although it is now beginning of May and it is a beautiful blooming Spring, I am excited to go through the Winter season of my heart to grow and mature further more in GOD and be reminded of His precious promises and the help that He gives us everyday amongst many other things are His mercies which are new everyday.
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
He tell us in His Word that He knows what we need beofre we even ask and what about when we don’t ask He still sustains and provides for us.
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
Matthew 6:8
I thank God for prompting me to go through these seasons of my heart as I start to blog. And I thank the Lord for Ruth’s beautifully presented art book with God’s scriptures and reflections of His promises to us and prompts for us to remember what God has done for us, encouraging us..
While today writing this blog post I managed to walk the dog and write some in the park and then go to watch the Red Arrows airshow and the military procession as they pass through Central London to celebrate and commemorate VE DAY 80th Anniversary.
I thank the Lord that He caused me to go, so I dusted off my camera as it has been a while, and off I went looking for an adventure with God, just me and the Lord, my camera and laptop. I managed to capture some military planes and the Red Arrows, and very happy that I was able to see them live. I love planes and especially military planes, wow, what a sight! Would have loved to have been a fighter jet pilot or something like that, but I drive and I enjoy that especially travelling on long journeys and road trips, that is great and I thank God for that opportunity this is as close as I can be to being a fighter jet pilot if you know what I mean.
I am currently sitting in a lovely cafe in Hyde Park and writing this blog post enjoying this time out from my everyday. Reflecting on childhood memories as we used to come here alot with my family and enjoying the lake at Hyde Park with the quick changing weather from overcast, dramatic clouds filled with raindrops, falling on my head and a windy, cold feeling, to then sunny and feeling hot. Mostly, though, reflecting on God and His goodness to me and my family and His mercies to us all. What an awesome God I serve!
Beloved, be blessed and rejoice in the Lord!
