Patience is a Virtue!

I was thinking about what the Lord wants me to write for today, what the focus is, and patience came up since God is teaching me and growing me in this area. Since we humans all have fallen natures, we suffer from a lack of patience, some more severely than others. Also suffer more if not saved. Being patient and having patience is a good thing. It is a characteristic of God Almighty. I lack patience, and I desire to grow to be more patient with people, myself and the circumstances of life.

God is patient and longsuffering, and in that, He wants us to follow if we are His children, to imitate and copy His attitude and His behaviour. This is challenging, like everything else; we cannot grow and achieve this in our own strength and will power, but in the power of God who cleans our hearts and transforms them, through His Holy Spirit who dwells in us if we are true born-again believers.

All of God’s counsel to us is precious, but I have included a few here on patience to bless, encourage and challenge, to comfort and change us as we think on these and delight in God and His Word to us.

The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’

Matthew 18:26

But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

Luke 8:15

For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

“For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.

Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”

But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Hebrews 10:36-39

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.

1 Thessalonians 1:3

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Colossians 3:23-24

As I ponder, reflect, and meditate on God’s word, I delight in Him and His word. It revives my soul and refreshes my being. It increases my hope, peace, faith, joy, and love for God and others. I can fully rest in God because He is in control and He is good. I can trust God and rejoice because He has forgiven me for all my sins, granted me salvation and eternal life with Him. Hallelujah!

Be encouraged, O saints, another day, the Lord has provided. He is good and faithful and with us, guiding and leading us each step of the way till He receives us to glory. Amen!
