How beautiful are the words of Our Lord God. How comforting and hopeful they are.
The world is messed up. It is broken, and Adam and Eve’s sin has made it fall, including all the creation. We all inherited the fallen nature. We are born sinners. We hurt each other, some more than others, some hurt other innocent bystanders, babies and children. It is a wicked world. It is full of evil but at the same time full of God’s salvation and His mercy and goodness.
One day, when the Lord God Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ, comes a second time, there will be no more evil and brokenness, as God will restore it all.
Humans are fallen creatures, and the Lord God was loving and merciful and came into history to save us from what we deserve, His judgment, and from our misery, pain, darkness, and brokenness.
There is so much one can be in distress about, but if we are in Jesus Christ, He tells us not to worry because He is God and He has overcome the world. Wow, that is a soothing balm to my soul.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
Isaiah 43:2
Hope in God is all we have; let’s never lose sight of that. Often I look at myself, my family and the world, and I feel heartbroken, overwhelmed with all the brokenness, pain and suffering in each of us, but God reminds me that He is in the brokenness; He is with us in our pain and suffering and discomfort. A lot of that is as a result of our rebellion and sin against God and the consequences it carries.
Although God helps us get through if we come back to Him, when we are humbled before Him and follow Him, that is how good and merciful He is to us. What love is that? Amazing Grace and Amazing Love!
Other times, the pain and suffering we experience are a result of others’ sin against God and us.
Either way, it is all broken and messed up, but the Lord Jesus Christ came to save us and change that story to one of beauty and forgiveness, transformation in the heart, salvation of the soul and life eternal with God and in perfect fellowship with Him and with each other one day in Heaven.
Humility before God is important, and our total dependence and desperation for Him are needed. At times, I wonder how, even in the brokenness, one does not cry out to God to help but continues to wallow in one’s broken, distressed circumstance.
Pride dictates our actions, thoughts, and behaviours when it goes unchecked, or maybe also one prefers to be proud over being humble because one might be seen and taken as weak. The devil is a liar, and we know it; however, if we are not close to our God and His Word, one often falls prey to his lies and schemes.
When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.
Proverbs 11:2
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
James 4:6
By pride comes nothing but strife,
But with the well-advised is wisdom.
Proverbs 13:10
Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18
Pride has to bow and fall before God; otherwise, one remains in one’s old miserable state of existence. God tell us to choose life or death; it’s up to us. He has given us that choice and free will.
Moreover, God heals and binds our wounds when we genuinely seek His help and humble ourselves before Him.
Let’s take comfort in His Word as He tells us:
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Psalm 34:14
The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Psalm 51:17
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Psalm 147:3
God blesses those who are poor and realise their need for Him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Matthew 5:3
Anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 18:4
