Lean On God!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

WALKING WITH GOD

7/12/20257 min read

God’s word is so precious, and His ways and works are marvellous! The words written here are not sufficient to describe God and the joy and peace He gives us, and how He comforts us.

God has given us so many gifts and blessings, even now that He upholds the Universe, the Earth and everything in it. We don’t think about it, but it is true. This Fallen world still exists only because of God’s love towards humanity and the salvation He has provided. He has given all of us a way out so we do not perish as we deserve because of our sins. Our sins will be judged if we are not in Christ, and we have to pay for our sins in hell eternally, regardless of whether we believe it or not; it is a fact. That in itself, just the thought, is scary, darkness, being tormented, hopelessness and despair forever. Can you imagine that! That is the absolute horror and tragedy of human life forever.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, our God, gave us an example of that reality in Luke 16:19-31, where He tells us about the rich man who ended up in torments and Lazarus, who was poor and full of sores, lying at the rich man’s gate waiting for some food to be thrown to him. When he died, he was escorted by the angels to Abraham’s bosom (Paradise), where he was comforted, but the rich man, when he died, was in torments, and their destinies were sealed for eternity. One believed and had faith in God, and the other didn’t. This is a true story, and it is not a parable. The Lord Jesus warns us! Let’s take heed!

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Then He will also say to those on the left hand. “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:” Matthew 25:41

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Hebrews 10:31

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:27-28

On this side of eternity, we cannot fathom, comprehend and appreciate the seriousness of this warning from God, but it is true because God is truth, and it will come to pass as everything else that He has spoken and declared has come to pass. With each second that someone dies without being born again, forgiven by God, saved by the atoning blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross, which He, the Lord Jesus/ Yeshua, paid for our sins once and for all. He said before He gave up His spirit that “It is Finished.” He then raised His life again three days later because He is God Almighty, and He can do that as Life is only in Him, and we are all alive and have our being because of Him. (Acts 17:28)

That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:15-18

How can we not lean on God and trust Him when He has saved us from His wrath and judgment? We are all guilty of this: It is He who has brought us up so far and carried us along and helped us even when He was not known by us, through the good, the bad, and the ugly, He has been there faithfully and wanting none to perish, being long-suffering and patient with us, such mercy is beyond one’s comprehension.

He has made a way out of our fallen state and reconciled us back to Himself. What a gift and joy that is! But that only applies to those who seek after God truly, and want to know Him truly, who realise their desperate need for a Saviour, and the judgement to come because of their sin. There is forgiveness in no one but the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, The I am, Jahovah, Yahweh, Yeshua, Jesus Christ!

Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

The Lord has been teaching me a lot over the years since I have been saved, what it means to lean on Him and depend on Him. This is not just head knowledge but heart knowledge and revelation that sanctifies me. Sanctification at times is painful, but it brings me joy as well in the revelation and knowdge of God and His word. He has grown me in my faith in Him as He has walked with me through this life. As I am writing and reflecting, He is teaching me and I am learning continually in the knowledge of Him. I praise the Lord!

Who do I lean on or trust but the LORD GOD!

As Ruth mentioned in her book, Gracelaced, “Rest in God’s Faithfulness.”

There are so many decisions we make on a daily basis, as Ruth says and all the time for me it feels exhausting, but I thank God that every day He is leading and prompting me to acknowledge Him and trust and lean only on Him. He gives me the strength to carry on, and I repent and confess to God for the many times when I didn’t trust in Him or acknowledge Him or lean on Him but leaned on my own understanding. Yet the Lord is merciful to forgive me and comfort me, and continue to grow me in Him.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

Reflecting on where I place my confidence when making big and small decisions. I thank the Lord for maturing me in my faith and knowdge of Him, All Praise to God! I used to run to friends and family, and worldly things, but the Lord is growing me to run to Him before I tell anyone else. I used to run to my secular friends, but I have come to realise that they only have the wisdom of man unless the Lord uses them to speak to me still. It is taking me such a long time to learn this, but I am now running to the Lord and the family of Christ, who can pray and give me the word of God, to encourage me.

I am so grateful and in awe of God for His patience and mercy and the help and comfort, and blessings He blesses me with.

So Jesus said to the twelve, “ Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,” John 6:67-68

I will trust you, Lord, in what seems reasonable and in what seems unreasonable to my limited human mind. After all, I thank You, Father, for giving me the revelation that my human mind is fallible, it is limited and does not know everything. I like that statement, and I thank God for helping me to know Him and trust Him because without His help, I cannot do anything. Whether anything seems reasonable or unreasonable to trust the Lord with - actually is irrelevant in any case because I am not God, I am a finite being and I did not create myself but God created me and I do not know everything infact as I am growing in the Lord more I come to understand that I do not know much but for what the Lord reveals to me. His ways are higher than our ways, as He tells us that.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Jesus says, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:10

God tells us in His word that He will keep us and hold us “Because he has set love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.” Psalm 91:14

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. Psalm 32:10

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. Jeremiah 17:7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6

God’s word is a privilege and a blessing. God is our treasure and our heart, our inheritance, our riches and love, peace and joy and rest!

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

What comfort He bestows upon us in His word - the joy of the revelation of His word to us. Growing us more in the knowledge of Him, His character and in faith and trust in Him as we experience and go through life with Him through the different seasons of life- as Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 tells us that there is a time for everything- good times, bad times, ugly times, difficuties, trials, challenges, pain and suffering and all that is to His glory, to His name, and His goodness and for our benefit and good ultimately.

Be encouraged, dear ones! All thanks and Praise to Yahweh! Glory to God! Trust Him no matter what and hold on to Him for dear life!
