WALKING WITH GOD

When someone dies and leaves this earth, for those left behind, it is a tragic thing, especially a loved one. It is painful and heartbreaking. We are so used to seeing that person and talking to them and being in each other’s lives, and all of a sudden they are gone, and only the memory of them is left behind. I was thinking about this and death even as a young child.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;

For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4

The Lord was stirring my heart, and I was responding. I think I remember thinking that as far as 6 years old or younger, and wondering how sad it is. That my parents, whom I love and look up to, could not control death. They had no power over death or reign over it. Life here on Earth is limited, and we are all going to die. They could not save me ot themselves and could not accompany me on my death journey either. We could not all hold hands and go together in death, as I would hold their hand walking on the road or crossing the road here in the natural physical world; they would be protective over me, but they could not save me ultimately from eternal death. As a youngster, I found it difficult to get my head around the fact that my parents had no authority or power over death; we are not immune from it. Death was real and was lurking around and would come for everyone. I thought that dying and being alone on that journey was the most hopeless, sad, loneliest, and scariest thing, and I pondered, as young as I was, what the point of life was.

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me. Selah

Psalm 49:15

Despite all that sadness and these thoughts that kept me enquiring and believing in God. God gave me understanding and hope in Himself. Even as a youngster, I had a confidence and certain knowledge, if you will, from God that He created all things, that He is real and that there is hope in Him, that He loves us and will help us and be with us. Furthermore, there is beauty, goodness and truth to behold, which is the Living God, Yahweh, and there is everlasting life with God.

This is how God loved the world: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

These were my feelings and thoughts as a young child, scared and hopeful at the same time, before I truly understood that I am in desperate need of salvation and that only Jesus has saved me, no one else. Thus, all the things the Lord God had been stirring my heart from a young child are all so beautiful in getting me to be aware of Him growing up and to be always looking, thinking of Him, desiring Him, searching and knowing Him to be saved by Him. Even as a kid at a certain age, even before I hit the double digits, I knew when I did wrong, and that I was not good all the time, that I am a sinner, and I cannot hide from God because He is everywhere, He sees and knows everything about everyone. He knows my thoughts, intentions, motives and heart.

Yet I am the LORD your God

Ever since the land of Egypt,

And you shall know no God but Me;

For there is no saviour beside Me.

Hosea 13:4

God cares about us so much from our conception to our death, and He has gone to the Cross to take care of our fallen natures and the sin that has to be paid for, because God’s wrath has to be satisfied. We cannot satisfy God’s wrath against our sin; only God Himself can do that, and Jesus Christ did that. He took on our sin and paid it for us on the Cross so we can inherit eternal life if we choose, or we choose to pay for our sins ourselves in eternal hell separated from the Living God.

The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

God considers, and He knows our worries and fears about everything and especially our anxieties about death, and He comforts us in that if we are in Him in Jesus Christ, we have nothing to fear.

Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!

Revelation 14:13

Here are a few words of promise from God speaking to us in comfort regarding this subject of death: Let’s encourage one another as the Lord tells us.

You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Psalm 73:24

Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul.

Matthew 10:28

I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying.

John 11:25

Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.

Romans 8:10

Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day

2 Corinthians 4:16
