God's mercies are new every day!
I thank the Lord for His mercies and His love for us all.
How patient is He and compassionate!
Long-suffering, waiting for all, and not wanting any to perish.
How comforting to know that His mercies are new every day.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
It is so good to know that the Lord has got us, and He renews us and sanctifies us daily. We will mess up while awaiting our full redemption from these earthly bodies, but His mercies are new daily.
but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:7-9
The Lord has redeemed us; in that, we can rejoice! Hallelujah!
He is for us and helping us as long as we want to be with the Lord and we desire to be with Him! We desire His justice and His righteousness, not our broken and messed up ways. We desire His holiness and grief and sorrow over our sins and that we have broken God’s heart but He still loves us and forgives us when we truly are repentant.
“It is not the absence of sin but the grieving over it which distinguishes the child of God from empty professors”
A.W. Pink
What does repentance mean, and what does it look like in practical terms?
God tells us through John the Baptist that we should….”So produce fruit that is consistent with repentance [demonstrating new behaviour that proves a change of heart, and a conscious decision to turn away from sin];”
Matthew 3:8
For we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about [a]our trouble in [the west coast province of] Asia [Minor], how we were utterly weighed down, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life [itself]. Indeed, we felt within ourselves that we had received the sentence of death [and were convinced that we would die, but this happened] so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead. He rescued us from so great a threat of death, and will continue to rescue us. On Him, we have set our hope. And He will again rescue us [from danger and draw us near], while you join in helping us by your prayers. Then thanks will be given by many persons on our behalf for the gracious gift [of deliverance] granted to us through the prayers of many [believers].
2 Corinthians 1: 8-11
A.W. Pink puts it this way:
Jesus has set us free from the Penalty of sin.
Jesus is setting us free from the Power of sin.
Jesus will set us free from the Presence of sin.
He will complete what He has started in us. It is Him who brings it to completion. He is the Author of our life and our faith. He writes our story, not us, to the popular world's saying that we write our own story. The truth is He writes our story. He calls us out of darkness into the light. His will prevails, and He is sovereign and reigns over all. On the same note, though, He will not force anyone to know Him and want to be with Him eternally. God knows the human heart and its wickedness and deceit and the secret things and all issues that arise from there.
Therefore, we do have a choice to make as God has given us free will, we respond in one of two ways- either we rejoice in our salvation and everlasting life, the forgiveness of our sins - this precious gift He gives us by saving us on the Cross with His blood and life, paying the penalty instead of us and so one is hungry and thirsty for life and realises the depravity of his being without God and therefore wants to learn more about God and desire to walk with Him and know Him, or we reject Him and go our way, which leads to death and destruction and eternally separated from God paying for our sins eternally in hell.
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2
How awesome is that! To know that whatever happens today, joy comes in the morning- whether the Lord takes us home or we continue on Earth with His presence by our side, helping us get through. Even in our worst and darkest days on earth, which are temporary in light of eternity, God is with us with His mercy and hope for another day, a new day, a new beginning and eternally with Him forever. He is our treasure! Be encouraged in that dear ones reading this and draw near to the Lord!
God says if we seek Him, we will find Him therefore, let's seek the Lord and know Him and have life, which is only in God and let us heed His warning to us all to seek Him before it is too late!
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the ]wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:6-7
